Wyze Home Monitoring Review (2026)

Last Updated: January 2026

Wyze is known for low-cost cameras and smart home gear. Wyze Home Monitoring adds sensors, a hub, and optional 24/7 monitoring. We review features, Cam Plus, and who it's best for.

What Wyze Does Well

Wyze has built a following on very low-cost cameras and devices. Cameras often start well under $50, and the Wyze app ties together cameras, sensors, plugs, locks, and more. Wyze Home Monitoring adds a hub, door and motion sensors, and optional 24/7 professional monitoring at a lower monthly price than most competitors. The idea is full-home awareness and optional monitoring without the cost of Ring Protect Pro, SimpliSafe, or ADT.

The app is the center of the experience. You can view live and recorded video, get alerts, arm and disarm the system, and manage subscriptions. Cam Plus (or Cam Plus Pro) adds person detection, longer cloud history, and other camera features. Home Monitoring has its own subscription that includes professional monitoring when you want it. Wyze also offers a range of other products—sprinklers, vacuums, scales—so the app can feel busy, but core security is straightforward.

Equipment and Setup

Wyze sells cameras, video doorbells, the Home Monitoring hub, and sensors separately or in kits. The hub connects to sensors via a proprietary radio; cameras use Wi-Fi. Setup is in-app: add the hub, then add each sensor and camera. Mounting is typically adhesive or screw-on. There is no professional installation. The product line has had many SKUs and some discontinuations over the years, so it's worth confirming which cameras and sensors are currently supported for Home Monitoring and Cam Plus.

Video quality and detection are adequate for the price; they are not on par with high-end Nest or Arlo models, but they are often good enough for basic surveillance and alerting. The tradeoff is cost: you can cover more areas with more cameras for less money than with most brands.

Pricing and Subscriptions

Hardware is cheap by design. Cam Plus and Home Monitoring add monthly or annual fees. Home Monitoring professional monitoring is one of the least expensive pro-monitoring options on the market. The catch is that Wyze has had growing pains: app changes, subscription restructures, and some privacy and reliability questions. For risk-averse users, Ring or SimpliSafe may feel more settled. For budget-first users willing to accept some flux, Wyze can deliver a lot of functionality for less.

Who Wyze Is Best For

Wyze fits budget-focused DIY users who want a mix of cameras and sensors, and optionally professional monitoring, at the lowest possible cost. It can work for renters and small homes where you don't want to invest in pricier equipment. If you want the most polished experience, strongest reliability, or deepest integration with Amazon or Google, Ring, Nest, or SimpliSafe are safer choices. If low price and flexibility matter most, Wyze is worth a close look.

FAQs

Is Wyze Home Monitoring good for a full system?
It can cover a home with sensors and cameras at a low cost. It's best for budget-conscious users who accept that support and polish may not match premium brands.
Do I need Cam Plus?
Cam Plus (or Cam Plus Pro) unlocks person detection, longer history, and other features. Without it, you get more limited recording and alerts.
How does Wyze compare to Ring?
Wyze is cheaper and more fragmented in product lineup. Ring has a more cohesive alarm plus camera ecosystem and deeper Amazon integration. Choose Wyze for budget; Ring for ecosystem and polish.
